Price and refunds
Checking a disc, up to seeing whether part of it might be taken out, is free with the free version, "Disc Rescue Lite". Taking out videos and saving them to your PC needs the paid version (tax included, one-time purchase).
Some discs cannot be recovered. Disc Rescue tries to read your disc, and does not guarantee the result.
Before you buy, the free "Disc Rescue Lite" lets you check, at no cost, whether videos are found and whether the places it checked can be read. It cannot promise that the data can be taken out.
What is free and what is paid
Free (Disc Rescue Lite)
- Diagnosis (checking the disc and the drive). The free version can tell you whether part of the disc might be taken out. Taking out and saving are done with the full version
- An outlook on how much might come back (given as a range of numbers)
- For CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs alike, this is as far as it goes. For CDs, it is diagnosis only; it does not compare with the online record either
- A problem report (optional). It can be sent from the free version too. The only thing the free version can send out is this report, which you send yourself. Everything that will be sent is shown on the screen before you send it
Paid (tax included, one-time purchase)
- Taking data out of the disc (even if it takes a long time, or you stop, you can resume from where it left off)
- Saving the videos, sound and files that were taken out to your PC (CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs)
- When saving a music CD, comparing it with the online record (you can turn this off in Settings; what is sent is in the Privacy Policy)
- For a music CD whose record was found, repairing the spots that scratches made unreadable from that record (the app asks before repairing; sometimes it cannot repair)
Price
- Launch price JPY 980 (until January 15, 2027)
- Planned regular price JPY 3,950 (tax included; the date of the change has not been decided)
The launch price is sold for a limited period. Please check the period on this page and in the Microsoft Store listing. Until it is actually sold at the planned regular price, that price is only planned.
Prices are shown in Japanese yen (JPY). It is a one-time purchase; there is no monthly or yearly fee. The software sets no limit on the number of discs you can save. The number of PCs you can use it on, and what happens when you reinstall, follow the Microsoft Store terms. Purchases are made through the Microsoft Store, and the price and availability shown there apply.
What you can check before buying
Before you buy, the free "Disc Rescue Lite" can check your disc. It shows whether videos are found and whether the places it checked can be read. It cannot promise that the data can be taken out.
If it looks like data can be taken out, press the button to get the full version on the result screen, and the Microsoft Store opens. You confirm the price (tax included, one-time purchase) and the payment on the Store screen, and then buy. After you buy, the full version can take out and save.
The refund terms and the seller's information are on this page and in the legal notice. You do not have to decide today; you can check discs as many times as you like.

Refunds
Because this is a digital product, we do not, in principle, accept returns or refunds for the customer's own reasons.
However, this does not apply where a refund is allowed under the Microsoft Store terms of sale or the applicable laws.
If you would like a refund, please apply through the procedure set by the Microsoft Store.
Your rights under the law, such as when the product does not match the specifications or supported environment shown at the time of purchase, are not limited by these terms.
Before you buy, you can check with the free version the condition of the disc and whether part of it might be taken out (this is not a promise that it can be taken out).
